Date: 13 April 2010

Cathay Pacific flight CX780 encountered a control problem on both engines.

The pilots made an incredibly successful emergency landing at HK International Airport without fatality. Fortunately, there were only 63 minor injuries caused during evacuation. The whole evacuation took 2 minutes and 15 seconds. The aircraft was just slightly damaged. It did demonstrate the safety motto of CX: “Safety comes first”.

Excellent Safety and Emergency Procedures Training amazingly diminished the impact to minimal in an emergency. High standard of safety and emergency procedures trained crew members definitely benefit much for in-flight emergency case handling. Backing up by professional knowledge, a pilot's excellent soft skills such as decision making, communication skills, logical thinking in a calm manner do save lives if an accident occurs!

 

All in all, Safety first!!

Responsible airlines and professional crew members put no life at risk.
