Congratulations to the Junior Aviation Academy on opening. As a JAA Honorable Adviser let me introduce myself. Captain Bob Yapp with 48 years flying experience starting as a teenager with my schools Combined Cadet Force, enabling me to achieve flying experience in RAF Chipmunks before being awarded scholarships in gliders at age 16 and piston powered aircraft at age 17. After which I was accepted into the Royal Navy’s Fleet Air Arm, and was fortunate to fly a variety of aircraft from helicopters, turboprops, fast jets, Harriers and for the Naval Historic Flight as a display pilot. I then joined CX in 1987 flying from Kai Tak operating B747, Airbus 330 A340 progressing from FO to Captain and Check & Training. After leaving CX I joined the HK GOV CAD as Flight Operations Inspector before moving on to join HKA in Operational Management. I was then offered a new exciting position as DFO for a new start up Airline in Hong Kong. Currently still instructing for Boeing on the B787. I am very confident of the JAA staff and their ability to be able deliver a high standard and fully support them. Good luck to you all.
Congratulations JAA!! It is my privilege to be your honorary medical advisor. I am a medical doctor that conducts medical examination for different aviation department/authorities of the world. This is what we call aviation medical examiner (AME). As the environment in the aircraft and its surroundings are somewhat different compare to land, a certain degree of medical fitness is necessary to work as a pilot. Personally, I did not learn how to operate an aeroplane but I have worked as a flying doctor previously, and fully understands and experienced what it is like to work in the air. I think it is a great opportunity for younger children to be exposed to aviation. Instead of just reading or watch clips on what flying is about, you can now have a unique experience with JAA. With all the gadget in place, I believe everyone will have a great time and experience.
